How to Search the Black Hawk Court Docket
Black Hawk publishes no online docket of its own. For a docket search, the city clerk and the court counter are where you start. ALLPAED helps only after you know the case and the amount owed. The Colorado Judicial Branch calendar matters only for one thing. It covers charges filed in Gilpin County Court.
- Read the citation or notice for Black Hawk Municipal Court, the case or IR number, ticket number, and appearance date.
- Call the Black Hawk Municipal Court clerk at 303-582-1727 to confirm the current setting and courtroom.
- Use the counter at 221 Church Street for case questions, payment, or direction to the proper records custodian.
- Use ALLPAID location code 8708 only for a known eligible payment, not as a search engine.
- For charges sent to Gilpin County Court, search the state docket and contact the Combined Court clerk.
Call by name and ask for a ticket, register, order, judgment, or any available recording. A narrow request gives staff a clear target.
Nothing on the state calendar means nothing was filed there. It does not mean Black Hawk dismissed or sealed the case. A missing result is expected while the file sits in Municipal Court. Suppose the city clerk confirms a transfer or state filing. Get the new court level. Get the case number too. Then turn to the Gilpin Combined Court search.
Black Hawk Courtroom and Counter
The Black Hawk courtroom sits inside the Robert A. Clark Emergency Operations Center at 911 Miners Road, while the Municipal Court counter works out of 221 Church Street. Two different buildings, two different jobs. Counter hours run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 303-582-1727. Show up at the wrong spot and you may burn a trip, since counter business will not happen in the courtroom and hearings will not happen at the payment window. Confirm where your matter belongs before you head out.
| Black Hawk place | Address | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal courtroom | 911 Miners Road | Scheduled monthly court proceedings. |
| Municipal Court counter | 221 Church Street | Clerk contact, case confirmation, and accepted payments. |
| Gilpin Combined Court | 2960 Dory Hill Road, Suite 200 | State County and District Court matters. |
Whatever the clerk or your current summons says governs. The monthly rhythm alone never fixes the time or place of every Black Hawk case event.
The Black Hawk Municipal Court
Black Hawk Municipal Court handles city misdemeanor, ordinance, traffic, and parking cases. Judge Ronald W. Carlson presides, and Clerk Janet Dennehy staffs the office. Its reach is local only. A Black Hawk police contact does not lock the case into municipal court. State-level charges travel a separate route.
The court's official page covers venue, schedule, clerk contacts, officials, payment choices, and named exclusions. What it lacks is a searchable docket. There is no live case list or municipal Register of Action sample either. Filling that gap falls to the clerk. The clerk can confirm a setting or hand over the city record you request.
For those local details, look to one page. The official Black Hawk Municipal Court page is the place. Read it next to the case notice instead of trusting a copied schedule.
Black Hawk Monthly Court Session
Black Hawk holds its regular court session on the last Wednesday of each month. It starts at 1 p.m. The location is 911 Miners Road again. Treat that as calendar background, not a promise about your case. A ticket can point somewhere else, a setting can move, or the matter may actually belong to Gilpin County Court rather than the city. When dates conflict, the written summons plus clerk confirmation wins.
Quick check: Call 303-582-1727 before appearing. Confirm the date, 1 p.m. start, 911 Miners Road venue, and whether the matter remains municipal.
An old monthly date is not a live court notice once a session gets reset. Black Hawk publishes no public reset history, so confirm the current setting with the clerk.
Black Hawk Court Dates and Settings
Read every Black Hawk setting from the current notice, then confirm it with the clerk. The state's county-filtered calendar will not work for municipal cases. It only helps if the matter was filed in Combined Court. When you call, ask two things. What kind of event is set? Find out whether you must appear in person too.
| Date | The case-specific date confirmed by the Black Hawk clerk. |
|---|---|
| Time | The assigned time, often tied to the regular 1 p.m. session but controlled by the notice. |
| Courtroom | The court venue at 911 Miners Road unless the clerk gives a different direction. |
| Judge | The presiding municipal judicial officer shown on the current case record. |
| Setting type | The stated municipal appearance, hearing, trial, or compliance event. |
A docket result that points to Dory Hill Road, or to a case class marked T or M, has left the municipal path. That filing sits in Gilpin County Combined Court instead, so switch to the Combined Court lookup.
Black Hawk ALLPAID Fields
Black Hawk points payers to ALLPAID, using payment location code 8708. The form asks for the defendant's first name, last name, and date of birth. The date of birth is entered as MM/DD/YYYY. A middle name, case or IR number, and ticket number stay optional. Fill it out and you move straight to payment. No Black Hawk docket appears there. You get no charge, court date, status, judgment, balance-search result, or document.
- Required identity
- Defendant first name, last name, and date of birth.
- Optional case keys
- Middle name, case or IR number, and ticket number.
- Missing docket data
- No hearing list, case chronology, order, or filed ticket image is returned as a public search.
When ALLPAID cannot find a payment you know exists, stop and call the clerk. Retrying never fixes a wrong number, a moved case, or an ineligible charge.
Open the city's ALLPAID location 8708 form only after the Black Hawk case and its payment route are confirmed.
Black Hawk Traffic Tickets
Black Hawk Municipal Court handles the city's traffic and parking tickets. Payments are simple enough. The city's official payment instructions accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, prepaid debit, and ALLPAID. ALLPAID carries a processing fee. The city publishes no amount for it. Bring your cash ready. The counter has no ATM.
Know what your ticket is before you pay it. Paying an eligible ticket works as a guilty plea. It is the wrong move if you meant to contest the charge. Follow the summons instead. Ask the clerk how to file your response before the deadline passes. For issuer and state-payment differences, see Gilpin County traffic court records.
Black Hawk Charges Sent Countywide
Not every Black Hawk ticket stays in Black Hawk. DUI, DWAI, vehicle-registration complaints, and domestic-violence cases are all barred from the Municipal Court route. They land in Gilpin County Court instead. That split matters more than almost anything else on the citation. It decides which clerk holds the file, which docket search to run, and where any later appeal must go.
| Matter | Record custodian | Lookup path |
|---|---|---|
| City misdemeanor, ordinance, ordinary city traffic, parking | Black Hawk municipal clerk | Phone, counter, or precise city-record request. |
| DUI, DWAI, registration complaint, domestic violence | Gilpin Combined Court clerk | State Docket Search, phone, counter, or record form. |
| District-level state matter | Gilpin Combined Court clerk | District Court filter and state request route. |
No municipal payment page can reach the County Court file. Wait for the filing notice, then run the Gilpin County case search for the state case.
Where Black Hawk Cases End Up
For most city ordinance and ticket matters, Black Hawk Municipal Court is where the case starts and ends. Any post-judgment review happens outside that court. State charges take a different road. They skip the city entirely. They open in Gilpin County Court or District Court, depending on level. One clerk, the Combined Court clerk, serves both state courts. Yet they stay separate jurisdictions with separate dockets.
Docket flow: Black Hawk Municipal Court › Gilpin County Courts › Gilpin County District Court
Do not assume a Black Hawk case climbs through all three court levels. The flow simply maps who might hold the file. Start with the issuing court, then ask that clerk whether an appeal or transfer opened a new case number in a higher court.
Black Hawk Appeal Status Check
Black Hawk's own materials recount a 2011 bicycle-ordinance appeal that District Court reviewed. That history proves a District Court path existed for that one matter. It does not settle the Municipal Court's present court-of-record status. For that, plus current venue, deadlines, recording method, transcript deposit, and record-transmission timing, ask the Black Hawk clerk directly.
The statewide guide splits appeals into two tracks. A qualified record-court judgment goes to District Court within 35 days. It is reviewed on the municipal record itself. A non-record judgment instead goes to County Court within 14 days. That route brings a trial de novo. The record-court filing fee is published at $70. Guess wrong on status. You may file in the wrong court or blow the deadline.
Black Hawk Municipal Appeal Record
If the record-court route applies, JDF 222 serves as the notice and designation form. The appellant files it in the higher court. There, the appellant pays the fee and appeal bond or submits fee-waiver papers. Copies go to the city attorney and municipal clerk. The municipal clerk then assembles and transmits the designated record. Keep in mind that a payment receipt or hearing notice is not that record.
The Colorado Judicial Branch municipal appeal guide lays out both routes. Under record review, the opening brief is due 21 days after District Court receives the record. The city answer follows 21 days later. A reply may come 14 days after that. A live order or rule governs each Black Hawk appeal.
Public Access to Black Hawk Court Records
Local access runs through two offices. The Black Hawk municipal clerk and the City Clerk form that chain. Ask the court counter first for a specific case register, ticket, judgment, order, or recording. The City Clerk handles municipal public records for city material. A general city request cannot override court control of a case file. It also cannot lift the limits on protected information.
Separate custodians: Black Hawk certifies its municipal files. The Gilpin Combined Court clerk certifies County and District Court files. Neither clerk can replace the other.
City research carries its own price. The January 2025 Black Hawk fee schedule listed records research at $41.37 per hour after the first hour, with copies at $0.25 per page. Check the live schedule before ordering, since rates get amended. Also keep that city rate away from the Judicial Branch rate of $30 per hour for state-court research and redaction. The two never mix.
For the current city figure, the Black Hawk fee-schedule page is the official source.
Black Hawk Docket Jurisdiction Limits
Municipal, state, and federal records live in separate worlds. A Black Hawk ticket never shows up in a federal bankruptcy court system, and federal filing access cannot pull up a city citation. The manifest images here document distinct federal systems. They mark that boundary; they do not offer a Black Hawk lookup route.
The Colorado Bankruptcy Court site is one such federal source, sitting well outside the Black Hawk municipal docket.
That federal landing page holds no Black Hawk Municipal Court cases. For city files, the city clerk remains the fallback. The court's federal ECF account page describes limited non-attorney electronic filing access.
ECF is a filing tool for eligible federal matters, not a municipal name, ticket, or docket search. The bankruptcy CM/ECF court information screen belongs to the federal docket layer too.
The screens all point to one custodian rule. City files go to Black Hawk, state files to Gilpin Combined Court, and federal systems only to a separate federal case.
